I installed a Cobra CB radio on the dash. However the only housing came in chrome which reflects sunlight like a m*f*. I got 3M Di-NOC carbon fiber wrap (about $7.00 worth), a razor knife, and a hair dryer and did my first wrap. Now it no longer blinds me in the sunlight.

I originally bought the 3M DI-NOC to do the dash, and am pleased with how easy it was to work with. But will live with this first for a while - I'm not necessarily sold on going crazy with the dash itself with the carbon fiber look.

To change out the badges that are glued on: (1) Heat up the badge and glue behind it with a blow dryer. (2) Tie a piece of fishing line so you have two good "finger holes" for pulling. 30# test is better than 6# test. (3) after glue is warm, pass the fishing line behind the badge and slide and sea saw through the glue. (4) stop when the line stops and re-heat the badge. (5) when badge is off, continue to heat remaining glue and pick it off with your fingers. (6) Remaining glue will need to be saturated with goo gone. ... several times probably. (7) After all glue is off and just haze remains, take some clay bar and clay the haze off. wet surface and wet clay bar. (8) wash area thouroughly and wax normally. I use Zaino Pro 2. (it's a polymer)

How about some more info. on how and what you did and a pic or two about your extenders. Sounds like you might have solved my step problem.

Went to home depot and got some Simpson strong ties. They are 90 degree pieces and I think they are about 6 inches long. I cut about a inch maybe inch and a half off and then held up to the step to see how much of the ends I needed to cut off so they'd sit flush with the steps. Once I get to a computer I can try and find the thread I followed

Farmerdan, how long have you had your 1911 that way? Just wondering if the weight will pull the panel down over time. I like the concept and plan to "copy" you.

Been there for little over two weeks. I drive up North every weekend so it stays in there for the 2 hour ride up then it goes in my shoulder holster, then again for the 2 hour ride back. No sign of the panel getting a sag or moving.

ok, did the mirror LED upgrade, took me a little longer than most as I was panicked over breaking the glass. I made it through and no mishaps, here are a few photos, I soldered it, then covered it in heatshrink. Used the Autozone LED's, then I put a bead of silicone around the reflector where I cut it out to fit the LED's in. Total cost $15 bucks...
