No, there is no power going to the port when truck is shut off. What will happen is the ipod battery will die and it won't connect to sync, then you will have to unplug it and reset the ipod and plug it back in or it won't work. Its much better to use a $6 flash drive, or a $30 one if you are one of those guys that think you need 10000 songs or total of 3000 hours of music for your 30 minute drives, lol! Give your ipod to your kid. No battery on a flash drive, no issue!

USB power is turned off after the truck is off and a door is opened.

Sultan is right. An iPod or iPhone is a pain. It is painfully slow at times as SYNC has to talk to iOs and come to an agreement on everything. Startup each time you turn the key is especially painful.
With a flash stick startup and navigating songs is instantaneous, even with a cheap and slow stick. Sometimes one brain is enough..

If your music is in itunes format, well... that is a topic for another day on another forum.

I admit after having my iPod classic plugged in for over a year I might have used it a few hours, I mostly use Sirius or Bluetooth streaming. The times I have used the iPod it was slowish

I would like to know more about these covers. Are these the pillar covers that I am finding on eBay? If so:
1: did they install with 3m double sided tape?
2: are they secure? Will they eventually come loose in the wind?
3: how much of a profile edge do they leave? I thought they would stick out about a 1/4" or more.
4: can we get some more pics of the covers?
Thanks, definitely like the glossy covers over the matte finish...

I have some like those but they are a carbon fiber look. They're very thin maybe 3/16" thick, edges are slightly rounded and stick on the pillars using 3M super sticky tape.

Haven't installed them yet, debating on if I want the carbon fiber look or not.

I had a set on my old f150 from ebay..

1.yes
2. yes, they are secure. 3m double sided tape doesn't come off easy at all on a properly cleaned service.. that's why a lot of moldings and such use it from the factory
3. its more like 1/8".. maybe a hair more
4.cant help u there.
