You are correct, but there is a work around. There is a large dealer in Missouri that will put a topper on a truck if he can find one going on a route out your way. That is how I got mine. I worked with a dealer 2 hours away, who coordinated with the large dealer in Missouri that was willing to send product further East.

Haha, funny you mention that as Leer touts that as a style feature to match the drop in the window on the front doors.

I figured as much but to me it looks out of place way back there. Lol

It sounds like I can't go wrong with either and it will be up to who has best price and service close.

So far the ARE dealer has had the best communication and they match the $100 discount ARE gives so that's $200 right off the top. They also throw in mount kit, weather stripping, and touch up paint. ( This all could be included in price but they are "doing me a favor" by throwing it in).

It looks like it's going to be just under $2200 OTD mounted and with taxes.

I don't need any LED lighting as I have bed lights already and will add my own for way cheaper.

I can't believe what they charge for the electric lock kit for these, it was looking like $300 for parts and install with programming! Nope, my key will work fine!

How much area all these, anyway? I tried getting prices online but they all want me to talk to dealerships and get quotes. I just want ball park estimates, not to have to wrangle a bunch of people on the phone just to get prices.

Lol, I had the same problem.

I just wanted to check it out but eventually caved and got quotes.

Depending on manufacture and options they start around the $1000 mark and go up.

The one I'm looking at is their top of the line model with no options. It comes with insulated/carpeted insides, frameless glass, color matched, Palm handle vs T handle, frameless rear door, basically everything that I want.

RES4CUE I have a ARE tonneau cover with the electric lock. To me it is worth it. It locks and unlocks with the fob. No walking back to see if it is or isn't locked. also if i need in it while the truck is running I just hit the door unlock. Don't have to carry the key with me.
Just my opinion.

No doubt it's convenient! I'm just a bit shocked at the price, if it was $99 it would be a no brainer but $200 for parts and $100 for install I'll pass.

I'm sure I can get the parts way cheaper somewhere and do it myself down the line.

I was told only the ARE dealers can get the parts and do the install. Don't know if it is true.

I had and ARE Z series installed a little less than a month ago. I am very pleased with it. I got the e lock, folding window and dome light also had them wire up 12v back there which has been nice. I got the sliding windows for ventilation for my dogs but definitely preferred the look of the vented window. Sungtop was on my list but they are significantly more expensive and have a longer turnaround time. The ARE was delivered 2 weeks from the day of order, snugtop would've taken 6.
