Can you share which LED bulb # you used and where you got them?

Just got the Raptor 3rd brake light and would like as much cargo light as possible.

Thanks!

Yeah. I used 3 of these... Although you should only need 2...

Well count me "shocked"!

Every listing for the Raptor 3rd brake light specifically mentioned "Hill Descent Control Equipped". COOL! *I* have Hill descent control! I'm good, right? -Wrong- Man, the sporadic nature of Ford's inclusion of that sneaky 4th wire (for the running lights) has me really bamboozled.

Oh well. So I had to add a power wire for the running light. I ran a wire from the light down the driver's side "C" pillar, then under the plastic door sill and through a rubber body plug so I could tap into the parking light wire (YE/GN) in the main harness.

A point worthy of note: If you run the wire this way, be SURE to run the wire BEHIND the air canopy bag. I can only imagine what might happen if the bag goes off with a wire running in front of it.

The end result? A cool new LED running light and really really bright brake lights. So I end up pleased.

I thought an aftermarket 3rd brake light would mess up the "hill decent control" on those properly equipped... can anyone confirm or deny?

Why would it?

I installed an OEM Ford Raptor 3rd brake light. (I hate lesser/cheap after market components issues)

I think the sensor for the HDC systems is located up there? Obviously not 100% on this.

I didn't see any sensors behind the entire headliner when I was in there.

I'll have a look at the factory manual for the location of the sensor and get back to you.

edit: I searched the Ford factory manual (on CD), and the only components at the roof besides the 3rd brake light is the compass and the moon roof module (if you have one).

Why would anything having to do with the HDC be in roof area? HDC is a drive line computer controlled feature... There are accident/impact sensors behind the rear seats on the back wall of the cab below the rear window, but they have nothing to do with the HDC.

Hope this helps.

My Recon 3rd brake light lasted about 9 months. Fit and finish is garbage compared to stock and their customer service is laughable at best. Save the hassle and get the Raptor light.

I'm going to wait till I find the raptor one cheap for sure. In the mean time, I tried to separate the factory one to tint the reflector like someone else on here did. But in doing so, I broke a corner of the plastic off and ended up 5 minute epoxying it back on and spray tinting the outside. Looks much better than the OE chrome.
