Default Before you have a flat ...think about this

Try the lug wrench on the lugs .......; they may have expanded ........ I replaced mine today
Make should that your key will work the plug in the bumper for the winch hole. Mine needed a good shot of WD40
Now if you have trouble getting the crank rod for the winch in place ........ here is what I did ..........
I have a short bed and the end of the winch guide tube was 9 inches from the hole in the bumper. For $1.49 a 1¼ inch PCV sink tailpipe extension you can make your guide longer.

Here is the extension in place

Makes it all most full proof.

Very good advice. Also a good idea to crawl under there and check the air pressure in the spare.

Chalk the lugs up to Ford being cheap bastards. They save $0.10 on each lug by making those two piece abominations. Have so since the late 80's.

First let me say I'm not defending Ford for cheaping out on the lugs but think about this. $.10 on each lug adds up to $2.40 per truck. Multiply that times the 800,000 or so trucks Ford sells each year and they save $1,920,000.00 per year.

Any idea what the air pressure should be with the spare off the truck?

Good advice. Replace them every so often as well. After 13 years on my old F150, I had a flat and used my never been used spare. It barely got me the mile to my house. I ditched it when I got new tires the next day.

Every spring I will lower my spare and spray lube the mechanism and put a dab of grease between the wing nut retainer and the steel rim so they don’t rust together.and Check the psi.
