Yup, factory bolts are too short. The bolts are not something you can find on the ready made market. Remove one and you will see why. I also cut the factory washer off the bolt as well.

I love the bull rings too. Lifetime no questions asked warranty. I had to replace one of mine and had a new one within a week.

Hmm now you got me curious how they can have a bolt that a hardware store doesn't carry. I hate it when car mfg use non standard hardware. Can you give us more detail if why we can't find a similar type bolt sans star torx head? I can't find a torx to unscrew my bolt to see what you mean. Thx.

It uses a size 50 torx. I will unbolt it later this week and take a picture.

Compared to the number of types available, "hardware" stores carry a very small selection. If you want anything different, look up an industrial fastener dealer that is local for you. The number of fastener types available is huge. You can get factory type bolts. Just not at your local Home Depot.

This weekend ill see if I can get one of those bolts out and figure out perhaps I can find a longer replacement. Maybe perhaps get underneath and secure the new bolt with a nut or something if it goes all the way through bed and out bottom. Switching out factory bolt would give me more options I think.
Btw what is the real purpose of those bolts in bed? Mine just sit under my plastic bed liner.

Please report back with your findings - I'm very interested.

Those bolts are what hold the bed to the frame of your truck. Without them, your bed would fall off.
