I haven't built this yet so it might suck, but my current plan is to buy some bull rings where the ring part unscrews and the threaded base is left. Then get a AL square tube, bolt that down to the ring base, and screw fork holders into the square tube. Run that across the front of the bed and tie them off to rings on the back. I've bought everything but haven't needed it so haven't built it yet.

Edit: It was these I believe. I bought them a while ago. http://www.autozone.com/tie-down-and...tem/236003_0_0

The bakflip is removed for this trip to allow vision out the rear window.
Damn that's a pretty impressive setup . My kayak is only a 10' and I'd only carry one bike so think I can do both with my over tonneau idea. Your full setup would be overkill but I may be able to leverage your rail idea

I think the channel is bolted to flat stock under it, that flat stock is mounted to bed at the rear with those two allen heads in to the stake pocket.

Ah, you're probably right.

That should work. As long as you can get the bolt down into the threads of the stake pocket mount and have some overlapping material toward the front and back of the stake pocket on top of the box rails, the stake pocket mounts are very strong.

The bolts going into the stake pocket mounts actually go through the rack channel as well as the flat stock. There was room to put a pretty big fender washer in there as well to give the whole structure strength on top.

I removed the U-shaped moving mount from the bullrings and added a nut under the lower part to thread the bolts into (those go right from inside the channel to under the stake pocket mount. The u-mount of the bullring lifts up or recesses down and is held in place by some pins that can be pressed out, and removed.

This was an ad on my Instagram the other day. If I was ever going to ditch my camper shell, this would be my cover. The only thing that may be a pain is raising the cover, when you actually have gear strapped to it.

We have on a Colorado here and it is actually pretty easy to lift even with gear on top. We had two bikes and a bag attached and it was like lifting a fiberglass cover.

Those bolts only go into threaded holes in the flat bar to keep the channel attached to the flat bar. they don't poke through the flat bar at all.

Another setup that looks pretty sweet, except I need the folding capability when not using the rack

Another interesting idea DeeZee invis-a-rack folding ladder rack. Not exactly what I was wanting setup wise but this would be useful for grabbing lumber etc as well without having to run around with a ladder rack all the time. Too bad at least first glance won't work with my bakflip hard tonneau
