Default Bed Box Steps

I've seen some of the discussions regarding whether it's better to get the 5.5' or 6.5' bed. I initially thought I would like the longer truck better for space and because they could come with the bed box steps, but couldn't find one (too anxious to wait on an order) with all the options I wanted, so "settled" for the 5.5' bed. To those of you who did buy the 6.5' bed, any comments regarding the bed box steps if you got them and how useful they are?

I was gonna say same thing, there excellent for washing truck,(roof),I also use them when launching/loading boat especially when water is high at ramp. Great for getting stuff in/out of truck w/o breaking your arms lifting. Are they a must have..no,, but you do find ways they come in handy..

My 2011 scab came with the retractable box steps. I have a cap with a bed slide, and I'm to short to reach the top from the steps so I took mine off. They are available, but to expensive to ship so I haven't posted them. They are perfect to reach the middle of a cross the bed box.

I use mine all the time. I knew they would be nice for some things, but I didn't think I would use them as often as I do.

AMP Research makes side steps for the 5.5' beds. Cost is ~ $200 each. I'm planning on getting a set this Fall.

my understanding is the box side steps from ford will not fit the 5.5 bed....wish they did.
