yeah, the smaller nut is the one to tighten down the end on the terminal, dont want to connect it there. on the other nut where the other wires connect should be just fine.

No. Correct is a ground screw on the body.

since its just charging the battery, closer to each terminal should be just fine. For an extra ground for the alternator a ground to the body is great.

i unhooked the BMS day one when i got my truck. I had a battery drain problem and unhooked all of the unnecessary things.

why are people using 2021+ trucks for examples in the '09-'14 forum?

fwiw i have had my 2013 since 2016 and used a battery tender on it since purchase, always connected directly to the battery terminals, and not had a single issue. first battery (factory) lasted 6 years total. current agm in the truck is now 5 years old.
