I used a 1" hole saw. Worked fine. The instructions mentioned shims, but I think the rails had a tag saying the shims were pre-installed. The whole installation took about 30 minutes. If the side seals look a little messed up, don't worry about that. They will lay flat with exposure to the sun/heat. Mine looked terrible, but were fine after a few days. Good luck.

I like your signature. I might have to copy the way you did it if you don't mind.

I used a 5/8 drill bit. The shims are already on.

Put on the front rubber stick on seal even on the bed liner (says don't use it if you have one)

Then position it so the front seals edge of The cover is just over the edge of the stick on seal.make sure to put the long stick on seal as close to the edge of the bed as possible. I used rubbing alcohol to clean off the bed liner before sticking it on.

Also you can use bull hooks with the f1 if you want, even on he 5.5 bed where you have to mount them on top of the rail caps with some shims underneath.

What are bull hooks? I Googled it but got a bunch of pictures of poles to use with training an elephant.

Gee you guys forgot the 100+ miles extra per gallon of gas.

Actually the install took less time to do then read the instructions.

Great product.

They're retractable hooks that you install in your trucks stake pockets (1 at each corner). They are basically 4 additional tie down points on top of the bed rails. If You have a 6.5 ft bed they're easy to install, just pop out the little plastic inserts on the 4 corners and install. If you have the 5.5 ft bed check out my thread- ill update it with actual pics soon

By the way, my mileage increased by about 1 mpg with the Bak cover
