Default Bak Roll-X for free...with a catch

I recently swapped my 2013 FX4 for a new 2016 Platinum. When I traded it in, I was in the middle of redoing my Bak Roll-X. My plan was to take it apart, clean it up, buy some vinyl online and re-glue new vinyl on it. I had even picked out some nice red vinyl to match the Ruby Red truck. I would have the only custom Roll-X in town!

While the old top would probably fit on the new truck, the house honey-do's are taking priority at the moment. Wife gave me the nod on just buying a new one. Pulled the trigger this morning.

So....that leaves me with a pile of Roll-X parts. Anybody interested?

So the good news...I've taken it all apart and have cleaned 99% of the glue off of every piece (There's a bunch of them and the glue was on thick!). Each piece probably needs a final pass with Mineral Spirits and a clean rag to remove the little bit of sticky that remains. I also took a bunch of pictures of the disassembly process, so putting it back together isn't totally stabbing in the dark. I have all the parts! If the shipping isn't too much, I'll even pay to ship it to you!

The bad news - You'll need some vinyl. And some glue. And some patience. I'll include the vinyl swatches I got from the online vinyl store, but you'll need to buy a piece big enough to cover the top. You can pick the color and texture, so "custom Roll-X" is very doable! You'll also need to put the whole thing back together. This will likely involve making a jig to hold the whole thing in place and then gluing a giant piece of vinyl down to the aluminum rails (the top). The vinyl, glued down, turns the top from 35 separate pieces of aluminum into a single, fused piece.

So, If this sounds like a fun Saturday for you, reply to this thread and I'll pick a winner. Please only reply if this task is within your capability.

My only "payment" is to see pictures of the process and the custom top on your truck!

I've got the same top on my 2013, why did you cut the vinyl off? Mine seems to be in pretty good shape after 2 years and I was hoping to get a couple more years out of it.

Truck was hit from the side and pulled the vinyl out from under the rubber strip.

I would love to tackle this project! I have a Red Candy F-150 and have contemplated doing some sort of color matched cover that was not a hard shell bed cover. Count me in the mix. Zip: 44241

I appreciate the interest guys. North Florida is close to me...I would also love to see it in red on a red truck....but I'm going to pick DerekL! He was first in the thread and this time, the early bird gets the top!

Give me a day or do to make sure my new one gets here before I ship the old one out.

Derek - PM me your shipping address.
