I completely agree considering studies show that it is actually much worse than drinking and driving. Unfortunately here in TX it is not against the law, as our brilliant governor disapproved of passing a law that would micromanage adults.

Something similar ALMOST happened to me other day.

Rural road going out of the city limits. Driver of a truck and me dead stopped, waiting for a third car in front to turn left.

Seen this car in my rear mirror fastly approaching (speed limit was 45)... She had to be doing 60.....

i'm thinking &@#$&(@#, i'm fixing to get rear ended..... Suddenly, she realizes we're stopped (I seen her hand to hear face which would mean she was talking on the phone)........BIG PUFF of white smoke, she's burning rubber trying to stop, and she veers left into the oncoming lane (there was a big ditch on the right).. Thankfully there was NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC (and she could not have seen if there was)....there was a parking lot for a dentist on the left. Not sure of her logic veering into oncoming, but I am sure glad she didn't rear-end me....

OUCH! That's not good. That Subaru and other pickup took a beating! Glad you're OK. I'm part of the cell phone generation, but my phone goes in the console when I drive. I have bluetooth and can have sync read my texts to me. If anyone needs to get a hold of me, they can call me.

Toooooo many accidents are being caused by people who think they're invincible when they use their phone. All it takes is a split second of eyes off the road and it's all over. I'd sue their *** off.

I'll bet Texas has a seat belt law though. Doesn't make sense to me either. In North Carolina we are required to wear seat belts (don't get me wrong, I get it), but any chithead can text, talk, and drive all day long.




Of course we all know money talks. Insurance Companies paid a ton of money to get the clowns to pass seat belt laws to save them money. Tele-Communication Companies pay a ton in election contributions to keep people on their phones while driving. Ain't got a thing to do with safety, just money.

Spent the day with my insurance (state farm) and the driver at fault insurance (Geico). In a nut shell if I tell my insurance to handle it it will be repaired with a 500 deductable. If I tell Geico to handle it, it will be repaired and I will receive a check for "residule loss" a law in GA for approx 10% of the value of my truck. My Blue book is 38K. So in the end I will have a repaired truck a check for 3800.00 and another check to release Geico from any bodily damage in the future. So I went to my local Fairway Ford to talk to them about a new truck knowing I won't be happy with a repaired vehicle. I will tell you the owner of the repair shop said there is no frame damage and it was not hit in the rear end so I suspect no drivetrain damage. Any thoughts on keeping it trading it in?

Yikes, you are going to get into interesting territory in this. I feel for you, I went through the same instance (drunk pissant 17 y/o) hit my parked car in front of where I was living in DFW back in 2008. Needless to say he had one of those scumbag insurance providers that only give min. coverage to pissant kids who are irresponsible. He caused 10k worth of damage to a car that KBB for 9600. After the rental car I fought with them on for a month, and the expense, those morons spent 11k to fix that car.

My point is, I had my brother in law take it to the big CarTrader (or something like that) to have them appraise it. After they saw the fresh welds and repairs, they were going to give me 4k for it. I lost my *** on that car, luckily I found a used car dealer that would give me 7k for it, so I paid off the remaining balance of 12k (stupid mistakes of youth for buying expensive vehicles with high interest rates and being upside down) and got out from that car completely. Obviously your truck is a much higher class vehicle than that 2006 Nissan Sentra SpecV LOL, but the fact that it was in a wreck will hurt on trade in I am thinking? Good luck, I hope you get a new one.
