Backup Camera Worth it?
Bought my truck not thinking I needed a backup camera. My SCrew long bed is much larger than the Ranger I replaced it with and so I am getting use to backing up with a larger wheelbase and less visibility. So I am not sure if I need more practice and once it becomes second nature I am good or if I should look into adding a camera regardless how good I get backing up.
If you have a camera do you use it much? Where best to go to add one after you bought the truck without it?

I put one on my 08 xlt f150 from advanced auto I wanna say for around like 140 bucks or so and it really helped out alot with backing up and judging how far you could back up to something. It didn't work as good as the stock ones on the new trucks because the one I had worked off of a wireless signal and would get staticky at times. So when I traded that in on my 12 fx4 scab long box I got all the bells and whistles with the backup camera in the mirror and ill tell you what between the camera and towing mirrors on it I have like full vision around my truck. So in my opinion the backup camera is something I use everytime when I back up and totally worth it!

I have a Pioneer 4300 in my truck and a generic, Taiwan manufactured license plate camera and have found it to be very useful, along with the parking sensors. they come in handy when parking in downtown parking garages, where space is at a premium. The Ford OEM camera integration is very well done, the danger zone stripes are pretty nifty.
The only issue with my camera is that the South Florida sun beats up on anything, my lens is yellowed and cloudy. Luckily, the camera only cost me $22 on ebay, thus a replacement will be easy to take care of and a replacement every 4 years or so, isnt a big deal.

I'm a truck driving fool and I love a back-up camera for no other reason than I can back up quickly and get on with the rest of my life. Out in the woods the camera is also valuable to keep from backing off of the roads.
