Default USB2 Ipod hookup

So I know that superbleeder already did the samething pretty much just thought I would post my own little thing with an Ipod hookup since I am bored and my wife probably wants to talk about her day and I do not want to so this was the better alternative. Enjoy

Here is the link from Ebay where I got the part:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I believe it was 5.90 shipped, and I know you can just buy the USB2 adapter if you want but I wanted a Black Ipod Cable just to go with the all black look of my truck

First take the rubber mat off the top of the dash. I used a plastic trim removal tool since I have no long fingernails and did not want to scrape the finish of the dash. Then remove the two bolts on top with a 7mm socket. Once removed push the tray towards the windshield and it will pop out then carefully remove it. You will see the SYNC computer with one USB port plugged in and the USB2 port empty. Simply plug in the USB2 make sure it is seated fully then just run the wire to the glove box or if you are efficient at this type of thing and want it in the center console you can do that too but I didnt. And then the install of everything is the reverse of removal. Good Luck.

Yes it is just like accessing the USB just press the talk button and say "USB2" and it access it no problem. You can also use your original USB plug still to if you want to attach to accessories

I heard if you switch the two plugs around, you don't have to do that. does it work?

where you plugged your ipod in is port #2, port #1 is already being used for the sync port. Plug your ipod into port #1 and the sync into port #2 and it should be normal

any reason you didn't just route a regular USB plug into the glove box and just plug a standard Apple cord into it there? that way if you wanted to, you could just plug in a USB stick or something?

good job though. it's so much better not having all that mess hand out of the dash
