I've just been informed over the weekend that in the next month we will have a module that will program your existing display and allow our camera input into the 4.2" screen. The module will actually program to your specific VIN so you will not lose any of your current features.

If you are in a hurry we can do a swap out of your existing 4.2" screen. You would have to buy the new display and then send us your old one as a core.

I'll keep you posted on the progress as I hear something new.

I bought the kit from camera source a few months ago and I am extremely happy with it! Yes, it was more expensive then the other ones available, but I feel the quality is fantastic.

So we would have to buy your complete kit, but with this relay your talking about, will there be a new kit that has the camera minus the mirror so we can use the 4.2" screen? and do we have to send our old screen to you?

Will we be able to use our current OEM camera with your module to fed in the 4.2 screen? Simply disconnet from the mirror display and route to your module?

If it is this simple I may crap my pants!!

Nice! Surprised that Ford did not use this display for a backup camera. No hurry on this, will be watching your website.

I was just about ready to pull the trigger on the kit with the OEM Gyro Mirror when I saw this. Since there is no mirror that would need to be replaced will this kit be cheaper?
What about installation? I'm not keen on doing major dash surgery so I would go with the display in the mirror if the install was more simple.

I'm still waiting on more details on the 4.2" screen so I'll have more information available soon.

For those with 2013 or newer the mirror kit is still an easier install because you don't have to tear your dash apart. You can get our standard CS-FTR-332 kit and not even have to relocate your gyro since there is no gyro in the mirror in these late model trucks. The gyro kit is for 2011-2012... maybe some early 2013 but you can always unplug your mirror and test the compass to be sure. If you have a 2013+ the gyro mirror would still allow you to use your current mirror connector but 2 or 3 wires will need to be added to make it work. It costs more and if you don't need the gyro honestly it's overkill.

If you don't have to relocate your gyro it's a simple mirror swap, splice in the new mirror harness and camera harness, install the camera hardware and you're done. It's a clean setup and no one will ever know that it wasn't installed at the factory.

If you currently have a factory installed camera displaying in your rear view mirror converting it to the 4.2" will not be a simple plug and play change. I'll have more information on what is involved in that process once we get the interface worked out.

Stay tuned for more...

Thanks for the reply, Chris. I appreciate the guidance.
I tested my '13 per your instructions and I don't need the gyro mirror so you saved me $50!
I'm looking forward to my kit coming and hope to install it this weekend.

So in total you will add 3 wires, maybe only 2 to your factory connector. No rerouting the entire harness and splitting open your old mirror to relocate the gyro.

The mirror is on our site here:

Hey Camera-Source, I just ordered the CS-FTR-1b backup camera from you (thanks for the discount coupon code) and wanted to make sure that I have exactly what I need. I will be connecting it to a Gentex GENK322 OEM mirror that I already have instead of to an aftermarket display. Is the kit that I ordered the same as what comes with the kit that is bundled with the mirror? If not, what do I need to do to get the correct wiring harness?

Thanks,
Stan
