Default Backup camera issues

I have a 2011 F150 Supercrew Lariat with almost 2k miles (yes only almost 2k miles) and recently started experiencing issues with the backup camera. The camera screen on the rearview mirror will sometimes appear fuzzy or I will just get a blue square and today I experienced the screen go from fuzzy to a blue square to just totally disappearing. This has only happened a few times in the last couple of weeks and I know if I take it into the dealership they will probably tell me they couldn't recreate the issue. Has anyone else experienced any issues with your backup cameras and if so what was the fix? Thanks in advance.

Next time, take a pic or video and bring it in to the dealership. I had intermittent problems with my TPMS sensor... error will come on once every couple of weeks and the dealer could not recreate the problem... so I took a pic of it on the dash screen the next time it happened... they replaced all TPMS sensor and all good now!

Same exact problem with mine. 2011 FX4. They replaced the camera emblem. Issue still happens intermittently.

I've got a '13 and I just noticed that my rear camera will stay on when when in drive for an indefinite amount of time.. taking it to the dealer today and see if they can figure something out.

BTW great thing to have to do the day after you return from a 7 month deployment lol.

Have you checked the camera delay setting? It can be turned on or off.

I get the black and white fuzzy squiggly and sometimes the blue square - but ONLY after using the remote start. I too need to to take it in but have been too lazy...

Hi folks,

If you want to have this concern checked out, I recommend swinging by your dealer when you have a chance. If you still need assistance after that, send a PM with your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info to me (or FordServiceCA, if you're in Canada) and we'll get you some help.

I also have the same problem as laketrout. Every time (not intermittent) I use the remote start the backup camera flips out. Nothing fixes it except shutting the truck off and restarting with the key. Very irritating!

Yeah come to think of it I do believe it only happens after I use the remote start, which I have done a lot of in the last couple of weeks. I think I'll try arranging something with the dealership to see if they can fix it.

Actually mine clears up if you wait long enough - ie: in the summer, remote start, sit in cab and wait for(ever) cold air to cool you off, shift to reverse = no squigglies!
