Default Back Up Camera options?

Hi,

I have purchased a 2012 F 150 with no back up camera. I am hoping to have one installed that works with the little onboard screen on the dash right behind the steering wheel where it shows the gas mileage, trip mileage and such.

Is there a company that makes such a camera that works with this screen?

If not, what alternative do I have that doesn't require a second screen?

Thanks,

Phil

Phil,
Ive looked into backup camera options pretty extensively and I do not think you will be able to use the screen you want. However, there are several other options. You can get a screen/rearview mirror combo, aftermarket stereo with screen and camera input, or a stand alone screen that you can mount wherever you wish.

Did you install it yourself? Fairly easy to do?

Yes. Hardest part was running wires. Look up a video on how to remove the oem mirror. Doing that wrong could break your windshield.

If you don't mind spending a little more camera source offers factory style backup cameras integrated into the Ford emblem, just like stock.

I bought a 2012 F-150 that didn't have a Back Up Camera in it.
I recently splurged and bough a back up camera and new mirror for the camera. It's fantastic.

these are very nice, but require you to drill into your tailgate if you never had a camera installed from the factory. And it's 4x what I spent.

There is another option Leave your Emblem alone and replace the tail gate handle with one with a camera built in. No holes to drill.
