Happened to me ,has anyone ever had the back power sliding window shatter? Im told its a normal thing with the 2009-2014 f-150's

I have heard of this happening why would the rear window defroster cause this defrosters have been around forever?

Apparently Ford got a bit overzealous with the wattage and the glass can't handle the rapid expansion. It may also be related to poor contacts on the sliding panels. I've seen a YouTube video of one actually smoking at the contacts. I disabled mine by pulling the ground at the bottom corner of the drivers side. The light still comes on and the mirrors still work, but no heat on the back glass

Yes, it is an issue that's been posted on the forum. I would estimate a few dozen people posted it. Let's assume 100. There are over 250,000 registered users on the forum. That's 0.04%. Of registered users, not of all F-150 owners.

It does happen. There are posts where people describe how they've gotten the warranty to cover it, by having the dealer submit it in a certain way.

Interesting to hear that, because my rear defroster sucks. I normally have to hit it a few times to clear my back window, and by then the heat from the cab is probably doing more work than the defroster is.

^^^^^ This is what I did.
Even though I consciously never turned it on I know it could activate in cold weather with remote start. Unplugging the ground in bottom drivers corner I don't have to worry about exploding and ice/snow is rarely an issue where I live.

I also unplugged mine. There's a couple multi page threads on here. Like others have said go file a claim with the NHTSA or whatever the acronym is.
