I had the 18's put on at a dealer, no problem. I found some King Ranch rims on Craigs List, brand new for $400. they run great, the stock tires were horrible in snow despite the m&s designation. Just ran over a mountain pass in a snow storm, they run great.

Thanks. The stock tires weren't even an option in the winter. Price difference (all in) is about $3000 plus changing tires every year for the 22's, compared to about $2000 and no chaining tires if I switch to the 18's for the winter. What tire and size did you get? I went to a few places and was a told to get two different sizes.

I have on 275 65R 18. There is another hidden expense once you have the rims. You also need tire pressure sensors. One dealer told me that the idot light stayed on, while another told me it caused an issue with the safety system. I got those as well, but still did the entire deal for under $1800.

Also noticed speedometer reading is off. Does not match with the calculator I found on this page. I think the speedo had the wrong setting right off the bat. Anyway, it might require twice annual reprogramming.

Thanks for the speedometer heads up. I'm getting winter tires tomorrow. I was able to get a set of take off rims from a new FX4. I'll miss the big rims for now, but will be happy to have traction again.

You will be happy you did! I drove 900 KM in a snow storm, compact snow the entire way. I used AWD setting, and with the new tires the truck preformed flawlessly. The traction and sliding issues were from the factory M and S tires.

I was very happy with the performance of the new 18 inch tires, even at freeway speeds on my way back from the tire shop.

Looks like I might have another snow storm on the return trip nest week.

My previous vehicles would stay put in 4WD mode, but slide down the driveway in 2WD mode, as the two locked vehicles would not hold the weigh of the vehicle and the two non-drive wheels would roll.

I was very surprised to find the truck on the road this morning. It just missed my wife's jeep on its adventure. I drove back up, and put on the parking brake, and it moved only an inch since then.

Possible scenarios: 4 WD does not lock. Or perhaps did not turn on the 4WD soon enough and it had not yet locked. Or maybe it is the tires that came with it. Not so good in the snow. I did drift on the highway yesterday in a bit of slush. (Another unpleasant surprise)

Does anyone know the technical details?
Maybe its cause I'm new to this, but what do You do with such a nice truck? Do you tow or haul or just use it like a car. I Don't mean to be rude but dang I'd find it hard to do anything besides travel in a limited or Harley. Those trucks Are a few bucks..
