Best headlight/taillight upgrades?
I have a 2012 xl and I want to upgrade my headlights and taillights but I知 not sure what to get. I知 looking for something cool and LED but not too expensive

just a personal opinion.
LED taillights for our model are all junk. they don't illuminate properly. the brake/blinker is barley visable. I'd stick with OEMs and upgrade the bulbs to LEDS. diode Dynamics gets my vote.
there's these projector headlights and you'll have to buy LEDS for them. For [HALOGEN UPGRADE] 09-14 Ford F-150 F150 Light Duty Pickup Black Bazel C-Shape LED light Tube Projector Headlights

Agreed. Diode Dynamics bulbs are in all my rear lights, now. I'm happy with my OEM HID headlights, but I can't claim they are "not too expensive" if you're looking at a retrofit.

I have LED bulbs in my OEM taillight housings, but recently discovered my right housing got hit by some chicken-shat knucklehead (who quietly disappeared with no note) causing the top edge to get crushed. I'm hunting for a replacement; new ones on eBay are going for $115+tax.
Having LED bulbs only increases overall brightness but doesn't provide the crisp, distinct "light grid" pattern that true LED taillights typically exhibit, if that's what you're looking for. And of course, OEM tail lights only come in one color: red with silver accents.
I've had Spyder headlights on my 2009 F150 and had no issues and were watertight (the most important criteria). I'm now looking at the recently announced Spyder Black Fiber Optic LED Tail Lights but they won't be available until September:
As I have a Platinum, the silver edging of these housings will better blend in with the Platinum tailgate applique. Just praying it doesn't suffer from the poor quality leaking issues that current 12th Gen Spyder tail lights are suffering...

Well, OEM tail lights also come in the dark color housing on certain models like FX.
