Exclamation Breaking News!

I believe, I've found a company, who can have the "as built data" changed at Ford Corporate, to include Auto Lamps. This means, that after your data is changed, any dealer could reflash the computer, which would, then include the Auto Lamps. Plus, it would be "permanent"! .. in case, your computer had to be reflashed to "as built".

This is a work in progress. Updates, to follow.

Well, first, great work figuring it out! Perseverance pays off once more.

Second, I got the correct auto lamp w/fog switch today via Ebay. The dismantler turned out to be LKQ, pretty big outfit. The switch came with about 8" of wiring harness and comparing it to the harness in my '13 STX there is one wire color that differs. Probably not significant, but if there was a running change in the harness, or if by some by some weirness, the wire for the auto lamps was taped back inside the harness and replaced with a circuit shunt wire, and both are there, it might be the answer. You'd have to eel back the harness in the truck to know for sure.

As it is, mine does like all the rest, lights are on all the time in the "A" position. Looking for a confirmation that the code mentioned worked.

Again, thanks for figuring this out! If I printed this off and gave it to a Ford dealer tech could they make heads or tails out of it?

I got a reply from the company, who is supposed to be able to work with Ford to get the "as built" data changed. He said, my as built would be changed tomorrow.

He sent me the proposed changes, which varied, from what we had come up with, .. in as much as, he didn't change 2 entries. I wrote back and mentioned these.

Let's see what happens to the "as built" data, if that works out, in my opinion, it's the way to go, as it will be embedded on Ford's site. Nobody wants to go through computer reprogramming more than needed!

I haven't gotten the PM, yet.

What that means is: Ford has your "as built" data on file. Anytime, the need arises, the tech can download the data and put it into your truck computer. In the case of modifying the code via the dealer, the new code is volatile. When a tech reflashes your computer (for whatever reason) later on, the modified data, will be lost. ... and you'll be back to where you are, now!

Gotcha, thanks for the explanation.

Has anyone verified that his code works?

How much is it costing you to get the dealer to try this for you every time?

LOL ... it hasn't been too bad. It varies ... sometimes, $49.95, sometimes $29.95, sometimes free. I think, they are starting to think, I work there. I usually, have something else, for them to put in or activate, so it kind of offsets the charge.

The last time, I had them manually program, I lost the remote start, which they had activated previously. However, that's a simple toggle in the computer, to turn it back on.
