I live in canada so we have to have the drl's on. On our trucks they come on at about 80% brightness and only when in gear.

Is "park" a gear?

Yeah, something is flaky about this but I know a lot of the trucks (XLT and up?) come with it so I know it's possible. I may just go put the meter on the sensor this weekend just to see what's going on. If the sensor tests OK, then it's something else (a mystery!)

It won't matter much because it's still an upgrade in that I can leave the lights on and when I leave the truck they'll turn off without worrying about the battery-minder circuit taking over.

Wait... I thought the sensor was electronic and knew what time of day it was... you mean I can't cover it?

Or, um, not...

I just noticed my Mustang has the same sensor in the dash (how convenient) so I'll pull that and put it in the truck and see what happens. Or put the one in the truck in the Mustang and see what happens. Or both. Or neither. Or maybe I'll just put a hat on the sensor.
