auto dimming mirrors

I was looking at getting one of these mirrors, does anyone know if the wires are ran for the trucks that have the regular mirror. I see a cutout in the head pannel but don't know if the wires are tucked in there somewhere and don't want to take it all down.

Here you go! For those that don't want the system to work!
The interior auto-dimming mirror contains 2 photoelectric sensors: one in the front of the interior rear view mirror and one mounted on the glass side of the mirror. If the sensors are blocked, the LH exterior mirror and interior mirror auto-dimming feature may not operate correctly. Always verify both sensors are not physically blocked before attempting to diagnose auto-dimming mirror concerns.
So first find the sensor on the glass, since it needs light simply use a sticker or piece of tape. I am not sure as it doesn't show where it is located but if you look closely you may be able to see it. IF not just move a piece of cardboard or something and wait to see it change. once you narrow it down,(thinking it is in a corner, just tape over it. I doubt it will be that large so I am thinking something the size of a eraser head is all that would be needed to stop it from dimming! Remember it is the one on the glass side as the one on the back senses darkness if I read it right! so covering it would have no affect. You would have to put a light on it!

I doubt the wiring is there as I have found several times when doing mods! So you would probably have to buy the mirror and the complete wiring harness.

What package level is your truck? I have noticed that my Lariat has all the wiring for all the features it could have, like puddle lights, I dident have them originally but the replacement mirrors I bought had them and they worked. Same thing with navigation, I have the GPS harness in the roof too, but I dont have the navigation. Best way to check is pull your overhead consol down, youd be able to see them there.

Unless they added the harness after the '10 model year (like my truck) the harness will not be there. I've pulled my headliner, no wires. Maybe under the rear window? There was a guy that posted a thread where he added the factory power slider, and the plugs were already there.

Looks like someone is going to add the auto dim!!! If you are only planning on doing the rearview then you only have to add the positive wire up to the mirror. The negative you will probably be able to get at the headliner frame. I am sure there is a screw or something you can ground to. If not no biggie, just run the two wire and you are done!
