The double image is really annoying to me... i think its worse the farther out you go on the mirror (the middle isnt bad)

I thought about asking ford if they can replace it with a standard ( non auto dimming) mirror, but i doubt they will

I know this is an old post, but for anyone thinking of this, it can be disabled by unplugging the auto dimming wires on the rear of the glass, or cutting the correct wires in the door. I dont know which wires though.

Found this post digging for answers....
The day light savings time change has me driving in the dark, and I HATE the rear-view mirror when it dims. The vehicles behind me disappear. I'm really going to consider unplugging it since there isn't a setting or switch to override it.

I hate to say it, but that is one feature my GM had that was better than Ford.

I wonder if it is an age thing? Most that don't like them??? are you below 40? I know they never bothered me not having them or driving on two lane highways but I can say I really like having them and I wish my windshield had the feature. I have noticed the older I (you) get the worse it is driving in the dark with headlights in your eyes.

39, here...but I've had lasik, so night time is not as fun as it used to be.

The tint in the back glass keeps most headlights from blinding me, but the mirror goes from mild to wild and the cars all but disappear. Even their headlights are very very dim.

I unplugged the rearview mirror, surprised at the number of pins on the plug....hope nothing else is tied into it.

Do you have a reverse camera? Some of those wires are for that. Also, I think I might see why some people have issues. Rear window tint. I have some but headlights are still blinding through it. Sounds like those with problems have really heavy tint or maybe caps where there are several layers of tint. There may also be a way to tint the sensor since they are dynamic.

I freaking love it. I'll never own a vehicle without it again.

And I didn't even know it was on my truck since it wasn't listed on the window sticker.

I also had LASIK and night lights are awful. These make it so much better to me.

I love it too!
I recently had a large trailer at night for many miles.
The headlights behind me were not triggering the rear view and the side mirror was blinding me.
I would hate to have to deal with that full time.

I've got the big screen reverse cam.

I really like mine as well, 60 and just had cataract surgery. Can now see better than I have been able to for 15 years, eyes now test better than 20/20. And no halos. Very heavy tint will cause cars to disappear and double images as well--experience from the past.
