People say apple is at fault, but when you think about how little you can actually set as a personal preference (default to Bluetooth every time you start the truck for example), it's really worse than apple in design. Take it or leave it system.

(Do steps 4 & 5 while you wait for this to finish) 4) Truck - Turn off, pull the key, open the door. 5) Truck - Close the door, restart. 6) Truck/Phone - Pair your phone fresh w/MFT. Let it finish. 7) Phone - Turn BT off. 8) Phone - Turn BT on. 9) Truck - Hit "connect" on the MFT screen to reconnect BT. 10) Phone - Go into the BT Profile Settings screen for Sync (little arrow to the right of Sync, in Settings, Bluetooth) 11) Phone - Set Notifications to "On". 12) Phone - Back up a screen and turn BT off again. 13) Phone - Turn BT back on. 14) Truck - Hit "connect" on the MFT screen again to reconnect to phone. I did exactly this to my phone/truck when I was trying to fix my text messaging issues. I haven't had a problem with it since.
I was very reluctant to try this because I tired this same procedure prior to having the update completed at the dealer and had no success. Anyhow I just did this procedure again and was really expecting it not to work again and to my surprise IT DID! My 2012 fx4 with nav can finally show when I have a text over bluetooth and will let me view it, listen to it, and reply back. Can't believe it finally worked. Glad I tried it once more.

Interesting about the 4.2.1.4 update for the Nav/Sync Gen 1 systems. Strange that the sync site shows nothing on this and the it shows I'm current with 4.0.2.

I've been having some issues with Sync of late - seems to not be understanding me on a regular basis, also when I hit the Sync button on the steering wheel, it often wants to redial the last phone call (strange). I called into Ford Customer support and mentioned all of this and they never mentioned or suggested a new update, just said, "try a master reset". Ugh.

This is definitely a thread to follow.

PaBear, I think you need to go to the dealer and complain as the only way they will do the update *as if it makes sense* is if the customer complains,,, so they put this update out as a TSB!!

Hi, PaBEAR -

Contact your dealership, provide them your VIN, and the symptoms you're experiencing. They'll let you know if the update can be applied to your truck.
