If most are like my experience, the indexing happens almost every time power is applied then every couple months it says index if full. Only way to clear it is a reset. I had the issue with an old ipod video and have the same thing with my ipad mini. Only now, with the mini it tells me voice control is not available with this device as we'll. Annoying, but I use the mini's screen most of the time so it's not a huge deal.

Also sync seems to randomly reboot. Everything will be going okay, then song time freezes, controls don't work, bluetooth kicks off and it sends me to the fm radio. 2 minutes later everything is okay.

So I finally reached out to Ford Corporate about version 1 of sync and no updates available got some promising news...

There is an update to SYNC version 4.2.1.4 available for your vehicle. There is a technical bulletin available for the dealership if they have any questions. The update is a dealer only installation and it would need to be installed at the dealership. If you have any questions please contact us at 1-800-392-3673 option 1 then 3 during our business hours: Monday-Saturday (8:30 AM – 9:00 PM EST) and Sunday (10:30 AM – 7:30 PM EST).

Wonder why they just didn't post the update out on syncmyride.com ...

From what I understand this has been out since mid August and probably is only for the Nav sync system and not the basic sync. I wish they would just come forward and let us know they are or are not planning on supporting the sync basic system. I have thought about looking into replacing it with a 2013 sync my ford system but haven't really looked into the mod yet.... I figure it has been over 1.5 years since I got the truck, they held it up to apply an update for the sync at the factory and they haven't done one update yet so lets face it,,,, it looks like the proof is in the pudding..... which means,,,, we have to eat the loss of having a system that will never get any better than the day it came out,,, while the new truck buyers are getting upgraded to sell trucks and once their model year is no longer available they will probably be in the same boat unless they have improved the ability of upgrading the newer systems!

Sorry, I concur with stang88. I have an iPhone5 and a 2010 Ford Sync. It plays my music, bluetooth works, and voice command seems to work. I never tried the text thing though. It serves its purpose, of what I utilize anyway....

I had a 2010 with sync and it worked fine with my iphone.

As far as texting through your car infotaiment system, I have it in my 2013 and it's a fairly useless answer to a question nobody asked. It's more distracting for me to interact with my texts through the touch screen than it is to look at my phone. I turned it off after 1 day. So don't get too depressed not having it.

Glad you are happy and things work for you but I have issues with it dropping out,,, not connecting and indexing the usb drive every now and then and Texting not working,,, but again,,,,, if what you use it for works you don't care about anything else and that is fine. so spending money on lets say power windows and they work have the time is ok as you are fine with it because you don't have to roll your windows up or down?I guess I am off track here unless I started this post saying the sync system doesn't work at all,,, then someone would post,, it is okay for me cause I don't use it??? Updates are for issues, fixes and added features and for you,,, it won't make a difference so you don't have to upgrade,, but for us with issues an upgrade could fix our problem and we would do it as soon as it is available,, so this thread is for us that have issues with the sync system and have yet to receive any update to fix the issue.... I wouldn't expect people that aren't having a problem to worry about an update nor would I expect the ones that are to say they are happy with it not doing what they want it to do!

All I really want is the notification that I got a text when im in the truck and NOT streaming music via BT or USB.

I will agree with texting being lame at best, but I have other issues since I use the usb with a hard drive,,, have issues that sometimes doesn't boot the sync system at all,, hangs up and have to do a reset. drops the phone connections and so on.... again it isn't all the time but enough not to depend on it working... So to me this is no different than the ecoboost problem I have as other do,,,,, It doesn't do it everyday but just enough to wonder when or if it will happen again. as for the difference,,, well I am not going to have an accident if the sync doesn't work,,, so that is a positive!

There you go!! Here we have a post that wants something to work as it was to do and isn't! He doesn't care about music? I feel his pain as I would like the system to work for what I want it to do too! And when it comes to texting,,, he, like me aren't really concerned about the lame responses as we are to get notified and have the system read the incoming text to us! So if your Iphone does this on the basic sync system please let us know as since I started this post I haven't seen one confirmation of it working! Now if your music works that is great,,, we aren't here to look for a fix of what is working,,, we are looking for a fix for what is not working and for what (we) want it to work as or for!
