Default Apple CarPlay

Being an Apple fan....I would love to see this in my truck! I would actually pay an upgrade fee if Ford would let me upgrade MFT to this (yes, I know it won't happen but I can wish).

My main point here is, who thinks it would be great if Ford would allow you to choose your "infotainment" system like you do your rims, body style, or paint color?

I would love to see the choice of CarPlay, MFT Sync or the upcoming Blackberry iteration. How cool would it be to have a CHOICE?

And Apple haters...no need to post anti-Apple stuff. That isn't the point of this post.

Carry on...

I was reading apple's car play website the other day and it showed ford as a future manufacturer. They are starting with honda and some higher end manufacturers but it clearly showed a ford logo as well. I wonder what product line they are looking at.

That would be an awesome option. Or just make them all apple since it will be the best of course.

I'd imagine one day manufacturers would make the system an option (e.g., Apple, Android), and maybe there will be a Standard touch interface size and system connector that folks could personalize. It is expensive to support many different systems, much cheaper to agree on a Standard and then everyone build to that.

It doesn't seem like CarPlay will control anything in the vehicle. It will allow you to access certain apps on your phone. So maybe this will allow more vehicles to support it without revamping their car controls?

I fear this. I'm a bit stodgy, but I'm all for *less* interference. Apple, Microsoft & Google coming in to my vehicles... you have to ask yourself: "What am I giving up for this?"

Kind of reminds me of that joke "If Microsoft made cars", except it's coming true.

Meh, might be cool if they gave you the option to pick but since apple doesn't play nice with anyone else and only around 30% of people use apple phones it would cause far more issues than it solved if they did. I've not had any issues with mft and Samsung Motorola and blackberry devices. Most people's issues come down to them not understanding the settings and not keeping their devices up to date.
