I agree you can hear the turbo whistle a lot more.

The only difference Ive noticed between the 2012 and 2013 with the same gears is that you can hear the turbos a little more on the 2013.

Are the torque curve and HP numbers the same for both? I'd think that the bigger turbos would take just a tiny bit more time to spool delaying the increase at low rpm's, but would generate higher torque when they do....but I've heard nothing that indicates this is the case.....odd.

I'm thinking they are preparing for a power increase to match competitors (if they increase power) and when the 6.2L gets shelved. So now they detuned a bit to keep the same numbers. Just like what they did with the Superduty. Waited for GM to pound their chest with the Dmax numbers and hours later Ford trumped them and took the headlines.

That's a good point. I guess we'll know shortly after GM releases their numbers. It would be easy for Ford to just change the software from one day to the next if they wanted to.

I emailed 5* to see if he is writing tunes for 13's yet. He said yes and that they have a 13 shop model. So I sent him back an email asking if he has seen a power increase with the 13 vs the 11 and 12's. I will keep you posted what he responds.

Thanks for the replies so far. It sounds like the larger turbos don't change performance, or don't change it enough to tell a difference. They might change the sound but that might also be due to the BOV or other differences.

Mike emailed me back from 5* and said it made no difference.

My question is, with the new cac and programing, are the trucks (2011-2012) detuned? Is the larger turbo making up for the smaller cac and detuning?

Traded 2011 for 2013.
Same observation as DD, I think the turbos are quieter. The charge cooler looks different as well.

I noticed the roof sheet metal is stamped different as I was surveying for 2way radio antenna placement. The 2011 had it's ridges stamped inward. The 2013 is stamped outward, and with a bit different pattern. Anyone know why or want to take a guess? I'm noticing other little differences here and there as I look around the 2013.
