Default anyone running amsoil in their 09+ ??

my local distributor sells 5w20 full synthetic for about $6.50 a quart. a quart of mobil1 full syn runs $8.79 at autozone. it sounds like a great deal, but i learned my lesson with royal purple, ( it burned my left cam bearing) so is amsoil any better? it seems legit..

Wallmart in sacramento CA has it on sale for $24 for 5 quarts.

There is also shipping and handeling fees, and one other.

amsoil is a very good oil.

You can go on the AMSOIL website at http://www.amsoil.com/mygarage/vehiclelookup.aspx and enter your year, vehicle info and see the fluid specifications. Compare that to the owners manual which you can find at http://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conten...rd&model=F-150

No stake in promoting any one oil company and I've no interest in starting an oil discussion. Just throwing the manufacturer info out for people to make their own calls on this.

I've run Mobil 1 for years with great success.

I believe Amsoil is the only synthetic in which both the base stock AND additives are completely synthetic. I could be wrong, but that's what I found when researching oils. I have never heard any legitimate complaint about Amsoil. I choose Mobil 1 because it's the most cost effective where I am.

Pretty much any synthetic oil will do well for you, and if Ford calls them okay I'm certain you'll be safe.

If you want to choose between 5w-20 or 0w-20, I would go with 0w-20. The oil will reach the various parts faster at start up and during cold operations the oil will flow through out the engine better.

I use 0w-20 mobil 1.

I've been using AMSOIL for 25 years. Always works well!

I agree. Wider viscosity range, and better economy.

well be tween 0 and 5 there will be VERY little economy improvement. It is there but VERY little.
It is mostly the easy of flow for the oil to promote less ware, that has a more benefiting difference.

I too have been running amsoil, great stuff. Plan on getting it tested before my next oil change.
