I agree the 0w-20 is better for prohibiting start-up damage. Just be sure not to leave it in your crankcase too long.

Just an FYI, the wider the viscosity range of an oil the faster it will break down and lose its upper end viscosity.

Yea, that wont hapen for many more miles. more like past the 15,000 mile range. The brake down of the oil is not relevent with intevals of our trucks.

got mule?
I believe Amsoil is the only synthetic in which both the base stock AND additives are completely synthetic. I could be wrong, but that's what I found when researching oils. I have never heard any legitimate complaint about Amsoil. I choose Mobil 1 because it's the most cost effective where I am.
If you google mobil castrol NAD you'll find the info out there, unfortunately it seems a lot of the hits return back to some sort of Amsoil website or Amsoil reseller, which definitely makes it seem sketchy. You can read up and come to your own conclusion, makes no difference to me what oil you use.
I've used Amsoil in the past four vehicles and it's never caused an issue. Drain it every 12 months, new filter every 5K. Currently using 0w20.
