Default Ticking cam phasers

Has anyone tried a 10w30 full synthetic oil to tame the excessive phaser tick?Mine getting worse but goes away for s while right after oil change.I realize this is no fix but hoping to delay the enevitable.A freind of mine who has done these phasers before suggested this.He says 5W20 full syn can't hurt but a higher viscosity should be better.Curios if anyone has tried one or the other? Thanks for any input you may have.

Mine broke within 3 years with limited use. Get ready for yours to break, they all will at some point. Cheap plastic junk. My cost was quoted at 2000 but I had an extended warranty that luckily covered it. They didn't want to cover it and it took a little back and forth. They wanted to know exactly what part broke and the service tech kept saying, it's the track. They wanted to know what part of the track. Service tech said again, it's the track, doesn't have parts, its the track itself.

Whatever, back and forth and they decided to cover it.

I am choosing not to use it because it WILL break again shortly and my next vehicle will not have a moon roof.

Yep, mine 2013 FX4 with 37K and it crapped the bed. Didn't really even use it that much. I mostly used the tilt option I wonder if that is worse than completely opening it.

Joe, how did you adjust the height? I replaced my track last night, everything working fine, however at the end of the cycle the glass stays below the roof line. Like it would when sliding back into the roof (if that makes sense). I saw a previous post about "calibrating" the motor. Advice?

cekgsk,
Been over 4 years since I repaired mine so the details are fuzzy.
I do remember making the height adjustment of the glass as one of the last things to be done.
I think this video shows the screws that need to be loosened. Have one person inside the vehicle and another up top to observe the positioning.

cekgsk,
Those screws in the last post will allow you to adjust the glass height.
One person inside and one person on a ladder up top.
With the sunroof in the closed positiion:
Loosen the screws and gently push the glass up firmly.
Mine came out good without any leaks. Still works just fine.
Here you can find various drawings and details of the sunroof:

Good luck

Zero advice....just need to vent!
Since I had the pleasure of meeting a young guy when he was txting and crashed into my truck. I've been in a 2016 f150 without a sunroof.
Wow, do I miss having a sunroof. I'm not claustrophobic, but I'm thinking this must be what it feels like.
Aside from not being able to look up(when stopped), I really miss feeling the sun on these colder days coming.
I always said, after 11 years with a sunroof in both trucks, I will never not have one again. This experience reaffirms that claim.

Does anyone have any tips on how to properly lube the sunroof? Or maybe even what Ford recommends? Also, what should I use as a lubricant?

Thanks,
Colby

My sunroof on my 2012 finally failed on me and I got around to removing the glass after forcing it closed one evening. Found broken plastic bits all in the track, and the cams were completely outside of the tracks. I removed the cams completely, and currently the sunroof glass is back in place and aligned 99% with no leaks. Looking at getting the Sunroof Dr kit and replacing the cam brackets.

WTF would Ford use crappy plastic pieces on a sunroof is beyond me...I've NEVER had a sunroof failure in ANY other vehicle. Ridiculous. Makes me want to go back into the import market. I *thought* domestic quality was back on track (pun intended)...guess I was wrong!
