That is the solenoid that controls the vacuum to the IWEs to engage or disengage them.

As mentioned, it's the vacuum solenoid for the IWE system. And it has been replaced once already because that little symbol on the side is a Dorman logo. I don't trust Dorman parts very much, so if you're suspecting it's bad, I would not be surprised. They aren't very expensive from Ford.
For a 2009, the replacement part number is 6L3Z-9H465-B $50.50 For a 2010-2014 the part number is 7L1Z-9H465-B $45.67 Search online and you can definitely find them cheaper. |
