Alright, if you have a constructive response to the OP, post it. If not, don't post.

It's an easy concept.

Now back with some more pics for the op

As stated above it lacks ptm qualities but it is great for emblems and blacking things out or seeing if you like the looks of things. I'm still surprised the beating it has taken on my step bars. From rocks and mud and pressure washing every two weeks to the old lady constantly using them. Just prep em right. How I'm doing my mirror caps and door handles is getting cheap covers of ebay and color matched oxford white , prime and clear coat and doing then myself another cat on here has a thread going can't find it right now and it turned out awesome. Emblems will stay plastidip I actually like how the black plastidip looks lol. The only reason I have step bars is because the old lady made me lol so I figured they should be black if I have to have them

I'm shocked that it's lasted so long on your step up bars....I plastidipped my heel guards for my motorcycle and that stuff wore off almost immediately. I had to have sprayed them with like 5 or 6 coats too.

I would say tape it off and use some trashbags just to be safe for when you're spraying them...It might be easy to peel but overspray can suck if the coat is thin....you'll be scraping with a fingernail for a while.

im glad i started reading this thread. i've been on the fence about dipping my emblems and might look into it a little more. my emblems are the only thing on my truck that are chrome. im on the fence cuz i like chrome and might add some more chrome in the future, its a FX4 but i think some chrome looks good.

They key is in how you prep and spray them

You have to disassemble the step bars completely to where you only have two chrome tubes , no pads , no hardware, no caps , no nothing. Clean them I used simple grean and wipe it down good with a terry cloth . For spraying I started with a very light coat and waited 30 min and did that 3 times before getting heavy with 15 min intervals I used like 6 cans in just the bars. I waited two days before installing. I also clean them directly with a pressure washer every two weeks and I use my truck as a truck

I also heavily suggest taking the emblems off and doing the job right but than again I am OCD

Shortie,

How long have you had your side steps done? I did the 20" chrome rims I was not a fan of last weekend. Love the look of black far more than dirty chrome. The sidesteps are still in my garage and I applied my 5th coat last night. My plan is to install them tonight and then eventually cover everything that is chrome outside of the door handles.

3 months regularly see light off road and direct pressure washing. It seems like the ppl that have trouble are the ones skimping on the prep work and disassembly. As far as wheels go I'm not sure if I want to get to that level of plastidip yet lol I'm still a skeptic

I did my old 24's and they lasted 6 months regular car washes and even mounting and dismounting of tires. Thoroughly impressed. Emblems I did, but then so did everyone else, so I did the PTM emblems, but still used plasti on the outsides.
