Anyone else notice how much the F150s have gone up?
Bought a 2011 F150 FX4 in October of 2011.
MSRP on my truck was $44,900. That included the luxury package, moonroof, running boards, no max tow, etc.
If I build a 2014 F150 FX4 on Ford's site, with the exact same options, I come up with $51,300.
That's a $6400 price increase!
That's a bunch of BS if you ask me.
The only additional options you get on the 2014 vs mine is HID headlights and cooled seats, plus the revised interior. All these are nice and all, but not $6400 nice. Maybe $2000 nice if you ask me, at best.
Also, I think if I had to do it again, I would get 4.10 gears and skip the sunroof. I hate the sunroof. What a waste of $1000. I would probably also get the max tow. I don't like how the max tow mirrors look but it would be nice towing my enclosed trailer.
My lease is up in 10 months and I'm debating buying it, or getting another or switch brands. Debating going back to a diesel as I think I have about 5000 miles out of 21000 pulling mostly a 5-6k enclosed snowmobile trailer.
Just venting.
As a side note, I have 21,000 miles on the truck and it has been flawless. This is my first Ford as well and have been very happy. I have an Airaid intake, 1.5" leveling kit, rear airbags and 275/70R18 BFG ATs on ATX wheels for mods. Sure would like to try a tune. The only thing I'm not particularly impressed with is the fuel mileage.
It can be good if you really baby it. I've gotten as high as 22 MPG over 250 miles or so, but that is not the norm. Best I've seen on the interstate is 19 MPG with the cruise set at 70 MPH. I drive a ton with a dirt bike or two or three in the back and normally see 15-17 MPG. Got 16.5 MPG on my last trip of a 150 miles with the cruise set at 70 MPH with one dirt bike in the back. My 03 Dodge Cummins with a 3" lift and 35" Toyo MTs regularly pulled down 19 MPG (hand calculated). Got 19.2 as an average from Bozeman to Seattle with a snowmobile in the back, cruise set at 72 MPH. That's 2000 mile round trip average. Cummins also got around 13-14 MPG pulling a 5000-6000 lb enclosed sled trailer. Ecoboost usually 10.5 MPG. Ecoboost pulls very well though.
I give my truck a 9 out of 10. Another 2 MPG and would give 10 out 10. I will say the fuel mileage gauge is very accurate. Usually within a few tenths. I have slightly larger tires, so I call it a wash. Towing power is outstanding and on par with a older diesel. My buddies 11 and 12 Duramaxes blow its doors off though.
Previous trucks were 03 Cummins (best truck I've had), 01 Cummins (good) and 04 GMC 5.3 (POS).
If the next one stickers for $51k though, I'm either switching to the Ecodiesel or HD diesel.

I'm sure they are jacking up the price in preparation for the 2015's. There was about a 3k increase in MSRP for a lot of the lineup from 2013 to 2014 and nothing changed. This way they can say 'man look at the new 15's aren't they awesome and look barely any MSRP increase over last year'

Boy, you sure weren't kidding. I just built a '14 replica of my '13, and the MSRP is $3100 more with no additional options! $39k vs $42k. I was initially disappointed when I found out that HIDs would be offered as an option on XLT's for '14, but now I'm pretty happy with my deal especially considering the rebates on the '14's won't be anywhere near what they are on the '13's.

Wow, I did the same against my 11 FX4 and it's over 6 grand more. But this may be to compensate for the larger discounts more dealers are giving. Use to be about 6 or 7 grand off, now many are over 10.
Ford's still selling these trucks at a pretty decent clip, so they can do what they want. The only way we can get them to notice that we aren't happy is to stop buying. Like that's going to happen....

Ya man they are ot of control they've priced me out of another F150 not that I would want one anyway. 3rd one 3rd non stop dealer repair POS I understand anyone could get a bad round but 3 in a row 10,11 and 13 F@ck that Ford dropped the ball and a first Gen 15 no thanks. I cant even build a 14 t compare to my 13 yet here in Canada.

There are quite a few additional options when comparing the 11's to the 14's. But the real jumps were from 11 - 12, and then 12 - 13. I priced my 2013 Lariat last week, with nearly identical packages and options, and there was no noticeable increase for a 2014. since the 2011's, they have changed the speakers, head units, rear cameras, dash screen, and rearranged the packages to include more upper model options in the lower models. Then add the HIDs which are $1000 and the price can be a lot higher.
