Anyone Else Not Happy With the Sony Sound System?

I have a 2010 with the Sony system and have plenty of volume. I also have a 2011 Explorer and a 2013 Focus with the new My Touch and the volume in very poor. The F150 speakers really suck as far as sound quality so I changed them out. That was a huge difference. I changed the speakers in the Focus ( I know doesn't help volume) but did inprove quality.

efficiency
I would recommend trying a more efficient set of speaker's in the front door's 1st, I think putting more speaker's under the back seat would mess up the sound stage? may be louder but the sound quality would suffer. Try a set in the front door's first should make a pretty good difference. Try crutch field very helpful an knowledgeable a more efficient speaker would be like more power.

Ya that's a good idea. I was a little concerned adding more sound low and behind me could make the volume balance out of whack.
I;m not knowledgeable on car audio so bear with me lol.

reason why i didnt even opt for the sony system when buying my truck bc i knew it would be subpar anyway. I have since upgraded the stock speakers to a component 6.5" system amped and dual 8" woofers ported under the rear seat. Perfect now. Nice full sound throughout the volume range.

I'm coming from the "Premium" radio in a 2011 F150 so this new Sony system in my 2013 is amazing to my ears. Ha. However I wouldn't mind improving the quality of sound especially in the bass. I don't need volume, I need quality.

X2, max volume would be ridiculous. Bass droops off entirely at 45% - but the mids and highs certainly don't.

I have the 2011 Sony and very happy with but it doesn't take much to please me on the stereo.
I tested mine due to this post and AC on max, rolling down my windows one at a time, I only had to increase the volume to 60-70%, all running at 80mph.
Once I increased SCV to 7, I had to turn the volume close to 50%.
Might want to check your SCV setting.
