I do the same. Only to have some a-hole park right next to me in a wide open parking lot. Especially love when I don't have enough room to swing my door all the way open without hitting, even though there is lots of open spaces.

I do it, more because my truck doesn't fit well in most parking spots than fear of damage. My wife had an 07 Tahoe that she would park in the closest spot she could find then **** and moan about all the damage she picked up. I never could get her to understand.....

I have done it for years , been lucky no dings yet. I also pay attention to where the shopping carts are at on windy days.

don't do that. I too also park far away, just don't take 2 spots. not only is that normally a dbag move, but will most certainly attract more attention to your car/truck. there's people that LOVE to let a shopping cart go or someone parking near you with their keys/purse/shopping bags that purposely rub/scratch your car.

I had a friend who would do that a little after our high school years when his dad got him a new mustang. he would sometimes take 4 spots by parking on all four corners or 2 spots by parking long ways. a stupid person or crazy ex-gf got him while at walmart. we came outside and it wasn't pretty looking on his drivers door.
