Other than style/appearance, I do not see much advantage/disadvantage , other than replacement cost.
Tirerack list the OEM Goodyear 18 @ $186 and the OEM Bridgestone 20 @ $159

So if you changed to 18 to save on tire replacement cost, you may have made an error.
WTF? How is the 20 shorter in height?

both sets are LT's... i didn't want p's on my truck..
this is the info i looked at for rev's 648 to 654 even though they are p's...
Tire size....... tire revs/mile
P255/65R17 = 691
P265/60R18 = 685
P235/75R17 = 674
LT245/75R17 = 658 (heavy duty payload pkg)
P265/70R17 = 654
P275/45R22 = 654 (Harley Davidson)
P275/55R20 = 652 (Platinum)
P275/65R18 = 648

I doubt it. The 20's are a 32" tire and the 18's on mine were a 30". His statement just dont make sense!

My truck came with 18s and I swapped them for 17s because I like prefer more sidewall with my tires since I use mine offroad.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I had originally wanted 18's but the dealer found me a truck with all the options I wanted out of state, except it had 20's. I asked if they would swap out the wheels and they agreed. While waiting for my truck they gave me a loaner with 18's (265/60/18) and got great mpg's and smooth ride. When I picked my truck up from the dealer, it had 18's but they put on 275/65/18. I was hoping for the smaller tire. My mpg has been 2mpg less driving the same route as I did with the loaner truck with the smaller tire.

My question is, my door jam sticker shows the tire recommendations for the tires the truck was designed for (275/55/20), so is my speedometer/odometer off since they put smaller wheels on? And if not, if I drop down to 265/60/18 from my current 275/65/18 would I need to get anything flashed? I have limited knowledge of this subject, but it seems like to me the smaller tire would be spinning at a higher revolution per mile and would affect speedometer/odometer.

The dealer can get into the options and calibrate for stock tire sizes. Hopefully they did but have them check next time your in.

what year is your truck? 2wd or 4wd also what trim level? engine? the 18s will ride smoother because of the bigger sidewall. the mfg. tries to keep the same height as possible whether they are 17s,18, or 20s. the loaner you drove was probably 2wd FX2 level trim or above according to Ford spec for the tire you mentioned 265/60/18. go to tire rack and look up the specs for the different sizes in 18s and 20s. i look at the height versus the mpr.

I got 20s on my 2013 FX4 which I run in summer...highway they are great.
I also run 18s in winter on a set of ATX 18x8 wheels with a nice set of snow peak rated All Terrains. The 18s give a better ride, especially on the rough winter roads. I also inslalled tpms in them which I bought from an online vendor and they work great...20s in summer, 18s in winter...both with tpms.
