Anyone considering an 18, but doesn't want this Start-Stop tech?

When is running an engine while stopped a bad thing? When you don't want 5 miles per gallon less fuel economy. Duh.

We will just have to wait and see I guess, unless some of the 3.5 Eco guys want to chime in.
When the 5.0 gets S/S, we will see real world difference with and without.
And there is no way idling at a stop is going to knock 5 mpg off of the real world mpg, unless it is idled for hours.

Sure, but that can apply to any vehicle. But it has nothing to do with my post about the original 2.7 hype (circlejerk) and the numbers originally released by the EPA. Still a great engine by Ford don't get me wrong.

Now that I'm properly informed, I wish I could forget I asked that question...
Now that I am armed with said knowledge.. and also now that they finally took the wraps off of the 5.0's HP & Torque #s for 2018. Exactly the numbers I was hoping for.
400 HP even, would've been nice bragging rights, but I'm very okay with 395!
I'm back to my original plan. I just wish, i didn't love my 14 so damn much.

Actually, the last vehicle I owned that had it, the auto stop made one of the biggest differences in the mileage you'd get, particularly if you do a lot of urban/suburban driving. It wouldn't work if the A/C was running, so you could observe the effect of it fairly easily. It probably dropped mileage by at least 5% or so if it didn't shut the engine off.

That makes no sense at all. You said you get 20 MPG constantly moving, where the start stop has no effect at all and 15 - 15.5 in stop and go traffic. Show me a 5 MPG difference in stop and go traffic only, with and without start stop.
I can easily obtain the numbers above in my 2013 F150 with a 5.0 and no start stop.

They can keep their s/s feature and I hope they don't go to the 4 cylinder deactivation like the chevys. I rented a jeep that had the s/s and I hated it, even though I could turn it off. What if you go to make a turn and that thing malfunctions and shuts you down in traffic? Is that possible. I love my 2012 5.0 and don't want that. My wife just got a new Raf4 and it doesn't have that crap as far as I can tell. I guess its for heavier gas users like v-8's.

I'm still happy as hell with my 14, 5.0 and a 6 speed.
Never mind 395 and a 10 speed.
You're so right. I never in a million years thought we see these kinds of horse power numbers.
