Fleets and businesses have been the primary buyers of regular cab trucks for well over a decade now. When I sold Ford trucks briefly back in 1999-2000, the dealer I worked at sold very few regular cab trucks to regular retail buyers, and the ones we normally kept on the lot were usually XL/STX models, with an occasional XLT. Most buyers were just people wanting the cheapest 1/2 ton available so they had a truck available for hauling or pulling a light trailer.
your are correct on the reg long beds, i see them all the time, but its rare to see reg short bed

x2. and usually when you do its like mentioned before. its for the people who want the cheapest 1/2 ton truck they can buy, so its a base model XL with the V6. not that there is anything wrong with that.
it sure is refreshing to see a well equipped reg cab now and then though.

Seems like regular cabs are fairly popular around my area. Funny how I never really noticed all of them till I recieved mine though.

I'm one of those guys you mentioned. I take delivery of my 2013 F150 XL long bed on Saturday. I was able to pick it up for $21,450 (MSRP $27,150) and it included the 101A package for towing and appearance. My youngest just headed off to college, so I don't need to load up a bunch of kids any more, so I didn't need the extra seating. I was really looking for a combination of fuel mileage and the ability to haul and tow occasionally. I originally looked at the Tacoma, but the mileage and the price on the F150 were close enough to seal the deal.

It's white, which was my least favorite of the colors offered, but there are some really nice mods in the forums that I'm considering.

I'm disappointed to hear that the resale value on the regular cabs isn't great, but I tend to hold onto my vehicles, so it shouldn't be an issue. I'm glad to see that there are others out there who still appreciate regular cabs!

In my case, I wanted the smallest F150 I could get, after driving Rangers for the past 24 years. I had always thought the F150 was too big, but it turns out I was wrong! I love my regular cab short bed!

I saw a 2010-2012 regular cab short bed today. I thought it was ugly! Should of took a picture of it right next to my crew cab.

Too bad they got rid of the flareside. I think they look best on reg cabs. I feel like it makes the truck more offroady.

To stir up an old thread. I just bought a '13 RCSB Black STX. Had to have it delivered from another dealership. Only 5 in Florida when I was looking for one.
