I'm always right.

If I remember from reading the linked page (now removed), the dark mode allows a cop to get out of his car without the interior lights coming on... unless he's carrying an Apple product in his pocket, in which case "dark mode" is disabled.

So what brings out this mean streak in you? Be nice.

As for your information about Mac viruses, I don't know who your sources are, but as a Mac user constantly since 1984 (always without anti-virus software) I have yet to encounter ANY virus... and believe me... I go to the sites that would have them!
He doesn't have a problem. He's a long standing member on this forum so he's allowed to insult anyone he wants. Be careful though, you're not allowed to go after him.

Back on topic: How is this police mode safe? When does one use it?

(if slutangris replies to my post, someone please repost. I finally found the ignore setting and don't have to be bothered by him anymore.)

This concept has been around for many years, long before vehicles were equipped with even basic computers systems. I can recall this feature in patrol vehicles as far back as the mid 1970's.

It is primarily for officer safety, so the interior of the patrol car is not lit up when exiting or entering the vehicle during darkness and the officer is not silhouetted; and as some have surmised, secondarily for stealth when making an observation or apprehension.

In the old days, it was a simple electric disconnect/deactivation of the little push switches in the doors. Today, it can also be accomplished via the vehicle computer system. The link below from another website, is for the older Crown Vic's; however, it still illustrates the concept. The methodology to accomplish this may differ from department to department and region to region; some may still physically disconnect the wired switches.

Exactly what it is on the new F150's... it disables the interior lights on the door switch. I don't really like it, as I do have to turn the switch on to find something when the kids are getting in and out, instead of the door activating it.

And wouldn't be too stealthy since the DRL's stay on. It was the DRL's that I hoped it would kill. No such luck....yet.

Aren't DRLs required by law in Canada on new vehicles? If so, your dealer isn't likely to make a software change that will make the vehicle illegal. Too much exposure for the dealer.
