Anybody else regret getting a Platinum?
I traded my 2010 FX4 super crew 6.5 bed on a leftover 2012 platinum 6.5 bed with 6.2liter. My FX4 was so spotless that the only thing dealer had to do was spray some tire dressing on the tires and put it out on the lot. 5 days later it was sold.
New truck is 2 weeks old, 550 miles and already the wood (is it really?) section of the steering wheel is scratched up and so is the face of the running boards. I was sort of shocked and surprised that they don't have any rubber on the face of them to prevent slipping or getting scuffed up so soon.
Any good ideas of what to put on the running boards to stop all the scuffing?
Mine is also driving me up the wall. the drivers door and center pillar plastic is rattling and vibrating on every bump you hit. Obviously that isn't platinum specific.

I don't have the scuffing of the running boards you are mentioning, but I am just now noticing some rattles from the dash area although I haven't be able to pin point the location.

Only problem I have with mine is the pass side door seal was pushed in by the car wash dryer and my tail gate plastic by the man step and handle squeaks all the time. Havnt had time to take to dealer for either of these problems.
As for the non slip step, I feel your pain, Im healing from a broken foot and I slipped the other day and hurt it. Im thinking of getting some of that non slip black tape and sticking it on the step. As for the steering wheel, I make an effort to try and stay away from the wood section, my last 5 vehicles had wood so I just got used to it.
Other than that I love my Platinum! Cant wait for the 2015 version!

I don't have a Platinum but honestly, I think that the power running boards would drive me nuts, plus I prefer the look of running boards.
Other then that you got the top of the line trim level truck. Good luck on finding the rattle, hopefully if/when you find it and get it taken care of your truck will serve you well.
Did I mention you made the right choice mainly due to it having the 6.2?

Heck no. I love my plat. Everything about it. The minor issues I've had so far would be the same with any model. In regard to the running boards, get some non slip tape if you're concerned. Personally, I think anything you step on will get scuffed after a bit.
In the end, if you're really not happy, I'm sure someone will even trade you an FX4 for your Plat.

Enjoy em guys! Life is short! I've got some time at 40. I feel in love with my 04 Lariat after a few mods. Hope to have a new model Plat in 7 years when I can retire!

I had my 2wd tundra extended cab for 13 years and nearly 200k. I looked recently at a platinum 4x4, took it for a test drive. Came close. Then wife and I saw the 2013 TuxedoBlack SuperCrew F-150 Limited. Had I bought the Platinum, I would have regretted for the rest of my platinum ownership. Wife likes the Limited. She wanted the Limited and none other. I am not complaining. I got a new truck out of the deal, and I like it very much - red seats, piano black, love it all.
