Default Any Words of Wisdom for buying a canopy?

I want to put a canopy on my 2013 F150 XLT Screw 6.5' bed. I assume its a straightforward purchase but sometimes I assume wrong.

Anything to watch out for when buying a new one?

If you're trying to make your truck look better than it won't work, But from a functional stand point it may help.

I fully understand it won't improve the looks but I need the storage and cover it offers.

1st you want fiberglass. 2nd you want a fold down front window or at least a slider so you can clean the glass 3rd the 09 through 13 are the only years that will fit and match the cab profile. I recommend Lear or ARE there are cheaper makes out there but you get what you pay for. Also the proper install is important so as not to leak, squeak or scratch your paint.

Default Hardware

Locking mechanisms and door handles vary. I'd avoid the cheap stuff. Flat glass is inexpensive to replace if it's ever broken, curved stuff may not even be available so I'd avoid it too.

I did a bunch of research on this forum and ARE and LEER were at the top of the list, good and bad comments as you would expect for both, some had leaks with one and no trouble with the other, next comment was the other way around.
The reason i opted for the LEER 100XL is really for dealer experience, aesthetically there was nothing in it for me. I had the auto lock added and some LED lights inside. Nearly 4 months in and very happy, zero leaks.

i got a leer100XL in Aug last year. only prob I've had so far was the door froze shut on me once in winter.

thule rails, non tinted removable slider cab window, 12v 3plug hub as well as keyless entry.

I've got a 5.5 box and the reason i chose leer is because they're everywhere. if i go on a road trip and something goes wrong, i can get it fixed by a authorized installer under warranty. ARE i think are a sister company of leer, but if you got a leer... then you've got quality.

btw, i spent two weeks camping in the box of my truck in Aug on our road trip.

i got a few pics ill upload tomorrow.

Just back from the dealer. Did not make a purchase but here is what they priced for me:
LEER 100 XR $1459
Removable slider $99 (dealer also made the comment as a poster above useful to be able to clean the glass because of the small gap between cab and canopy)
Keyless Entry $199
Thule Rack: Tracker 2 $349 or AeroBlade $429 (plus attachments for Sea Kayaks)

Dealer said we may find a Leer coupon online and overall price is negotiable especially with the options we were looking at. Since I was ready to buy I didn't test the price.
100XR was about $350 less than the 100 LR that others mentioned they got. I saw the XR as having larger windows for the dog for better ventilation. XL has a crank vs sliding window and it had a better handle and $50 less to add the keyless entry. He told us the 100 XR was their most popular model.

Puts us in the $2000 price range and tax before any discounting we may get.

Keyless entry is an expensive option, looks handy but my tailgate lock requires the key so wondering if it overlaps the tailgate enough that I don't need to lock the tail gate?

Anything you see I would want to get or should rethink?

Price it out online too and then you will have a number to haggle with. Sounds good tho.
