I don't think the switch costs very much. You can check to see if the connector is already in your wiring harness. It would be connected to a dead end in a bracket just below where the switch would mount. Then it may just require a trip to the dealer to activate it. I don't know for sure as my XLT came with it from the factory.

Good luck.

ETA: the hood switch is less than $20 from the ford accessories website.

Not that this makes sense to me but every F150 that has electric door locks has the hood switch! I know this since I ordered the remote start for the truck and it stated you needed a hood switch. Also I thought that most cars / trucks on the market today have factory alarms,,, via the horn? I know we don't have a siren but I thought it comes with an alarm for breaking in!

I have power locks and no switch. Also the "alarm" is just an engine immobilizer and doesn't sound the horn unless you have the alarm.

I thought the hood switch was to keep you from remote starting the truck with the hood open.

My aftermarket hood switch is exactly for that reason.

So you do have the hood switch, and the perimeter alarm? Good deal. Now its just a matter of installing the jimmy jammer over the hood latch.

Sorry must be 2011 up then. My 2012 XLT came from the factory with the hood switch due to the fact I had electric locks and the alarm is standard as I know it!

I was honestly surprised my stx had it. I guess the little things are becoming more standard. Very happy with my stx has power Bluetooth and an alarm. Adding leather and flow through console for under 1000 and I have a fx4 as I see it for a huge amount of savings!

In order to protect my truck. What would a thief do to disable the alarm as fast as possible if they flipped this latch and the alarm goes off.

So it did go off and the switch is there! I am not sure if a xt with no options has it but I was pretty sure it stated alarm system of some what on the window sticker. Depending on how long you are going to keep your truck I would think about your anti pick lock you are making. I have seen the cables go bad and have had to get into the car or truck when I had my garage and I never found one car / truck that I could get into with a long thin screwdriver. So if you are going to get the truck look at how you will be able to unlatch it if the cable breaks! Keep in mind that the cable wasn't the issue it was normally a little plastic clip at the latch were the cable attaches that broke!
