I could be wrong but I think it is a sensor to measure the cabin temp. I had a 2000 Olds with a something that looked similar. That's what I was told it was.

It is the fix for the noisy sync microphone. TSB 10-4-8 relocates the microphone from the rearview mirror to that location.

Does that TSB address all models of the F150 or anyone in particular? Do you have a copy of the TSB?
