Default Another tire question- Nitto Ridge Grappler vs Toyo at2

I'm ready to pull the trigger on some new tires and I think I have it narrowed down to Nitto Ridge Grapplers or Toyo AT2. Size will be 285/75r17. Price difference is only $200 more for the Ridge Grapplers but they come in a load range C which I think is a good option.

I've read good things about both tires but just looking for some first hand experience.

Thanks

I have the Toyo AT2 in 285/75r17 and I like them, but they are not the greatest in snow and rain. They ride nice and have good road manners so far. Only have about 10 thousand miles on mine so far though.

I can't help with the comparison but am 99% sure I'm going to go with the ridge grapplers in that same size, in the load range c. So if you get them post a review and some pictures!

The AT2's suck in the rain. I live in Seattle and won't make the mistake of buying them again.

Yea man "Whizbang" is right about the at2's. Their nice aggressive looking a/t but they struggle to catch traction in the rain. Haven't had any problem in the snow or mud but the rain is no good. Just FYI just pay the extra

I've had 3 sets of the AT IIs and 4 sets of the original AT and they do just fine in the rain for me.

I was making the same comparison. The Nitto is a really great looking tire. Wonder how it will perform (everywhere).

I had a set of AT2s in the LT285/75R17 Extreme size. After over 25k miles, and only 7/32 worn off, one tire developed a tread welding separation. I was given a new one. But I upsized to LT305/70R17 Extremes. I had the first set for 2 years and never experienced any difficulties in the rain. I guess it depends on how one expects to behave with their own driving habits.

I will say, I love the way the AT2s off-road, the way they feel and the way they look. Maybe the next set will be Ridge Grapplers... after they've been around for awhile.

Just replaced my AT's (not sure of differences) at 64k here in PNW. I never had any problems in the rain or snow with them. Have run these tires on truck, expedition and previous truck. Replaced with the Toyo R/T's and am very happy. Will report after xmas on how well they do in the snow as we head to the mountains.

I've had bad luck with Toyos regardless of what they are on. 75K mile tires last 20K and was strictly a highway commuter car. Too much hassle to warranty them.

I'm going with 285/70/17's Ridge Grapplers on Monday. I was hoping they would have the 75 series in, but not luck in this area. I've had AT II's and AT II extreme's. They wore fast, but I was very happy with the traction they provided. I will say that this was on a F350. My buddy ran the identical AT II Extreme's on his F150 (Lincoln Mark LT) and his were still like new when mine were completely done.

I'm liking that I can get the Ridge Grapplers in C load.
