When you open your door, lets say the steps hit your shins. Will the steps stop or do the continue to drop all the way? I know they stop if they are retracting and something gets caught in them.

From what I know They are designed to stop in both directions. It has built in resistors in the controller that measures resistance and stops the motor from moving.
