Default Ambient Lighting

Ashley,
I finished changing out my entire center console from my Lariat to one from a Platinum yesterday. I made all the connections and for some reason the ambient light switch does not seem to have power to it. I am thinking that my harness is not pinned correctly since a Lariat does not have ambient lighting as an option. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated or if you have a schematic for the connectors in the center console that may help as well. I could always run a separate power wire to the switch if I knew which pin to run it to.
Thanks,
Kevin

Power comes from the BCM to connector 3007 which is a 6 pin connector (3per side) #3 pin is where you need to supply power which should have a Grey/Red wire going to it,,, when looking down on the connector with the lock clip on your left it should be the top left pin! I hope this helps however I doubt it since that connector goes to the control unit for the lighting and if your truck didn't have it that female connector won't be there to connect to your console. That being said you will need to add a ground wire to the same connector pin #6 which is located next to (right side) pin #3.. so look for a grey/red wire with a black wire next to it... put power to the grey/red and ground to the black and see if that works for you...

Default ambiant lighting

I change my 12 Fx4 console put the 2010 system from a platinum. Had a guy at one of those custom audio shops hook mine up. He could not find any conector to plug in the harness. Hard wired it in the console next the shifter. Works great.

Think I have it will let you know this weekend. Apparently there is not a power wire grey/red providing power from the BCM to the harness that powers the ambient lighting. Going to run that wire with an add-a-fuse this weekend and praying that it all works. Will post pictures when it is all said and done. Thanks to everyone so far for all the help especially mamonti!

Kevin, don't forget about pin 6 needing ground too! As we spoke,,, since it is needed and wasn't an option at build time it may not have the ground also!!!

I'm trying to do the same to my 2013 Lariat. I got a Platinum console with the light ring and switch. I also bought an ambient light kit part # CL8Z-13E700-AA. I'm trying to figure out the wiring. Any help would be appreciated. Does anyone have the instructions for the lighting kit? Is there a wiring harness from a Platinum I could get that would make this easier? Then the console would be plug & play and I could add in the ambient lighting kit. Just a thought.

I want this so bad but I just can't pay that much so I just bought a LEDglow set off of eBay for $50. Won't have the cool cup holder ring but I'll do w/o it. Supposed to have 1 million colors. It got a wireless remote for whatever reason that fits perfect in the small cubby inside the big cubby in front of the shifter.

If you're crafty you can try my method for adding the ring

Here's the thread documenting my process, post 102 has the nuts and bolts for the install. If you read through, I began the integration process using the million mini set from LEDGlow....

There have been a few members to follow the install process and so far I believe they are all happy with the results
