If your truck is a 13' or 14' the dealer can enable the DRL as well as switch them between 30% headlights or turn lights using IDS. I had the dealer switch mine from the heads to the turns a couple months before I put in OEM HIDs.

I do believe that the dealer has two options when enabling DRL. The first is for halogen lights and will turn them(at a lower voltage?) on when the truck is in gear, or for HID lights which will enable the high side of the parking lamps... I would think that they could turn on the "hid" option regardless of the headlights actually installed...

Anyone have any confirmation of this? I've got a 2012 and I'd like to have DRL enabled, but I plan on doing HID headlights in the very near future. I've gotta have as much information as possible before I approach the dealership to get this programmed.

Your 12' won't have the option for the parking lights as DRL, only headlights. The choice is only available for the 13's and newer as they had the HID's as an option. But as I stated earlier the 13's and up regardless of headlight type can be changed from 30% headlight as DRL to high side of turns as DRL.
