Cool Alternator/Voltage Concern

Hi all! New member here. I have a 2010 F150 XLT with about 200,000 miles on it, keeping it chugging along the best I can and am a novice mechanic (self-proclaimed).

Here’s my question:

Been having some issues with the battery fault coming onto the dash after replacing my alternator. Got one from Napa for a good price with the warranty and I’m going to exchange it because I saw I was getting about 12.7V when the vehicle is running and about 13.1V when it’s off. Should I also be concerned about the battery or anything else for those who have well-loved trucks with similar experiences?

When I installed this new alternator I made sure it was level so that the belt is not warping at all and I see that the alternator is doing SOMETHING, just not giving the recommended voltage for when the truck is on.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome, how old is the battery? Older than 3 years? BTW our trucks are very finicky about alternators.

Looking like something shorted out on the end of the positive lead to the battery?

UPDATE! Looks like my poor buddy got melted. To answer your question, the battery is within the past 6 months!
