all terrain tires mpg decrease??
I want to replace the crappy goodyear wranglers on my 14 ecoboost. If I am staying with the same size tires will I see any dent in fuel mileage if I go to a all terrain type tire??

I lost about a mile or two on mine. Only went up one size from stock. Got the BFG A/T's... Awesome tires but a bit on the heavy side.

even if you stay the same size and P metric versus an LT there is more rolling resistance. you want lose much, probably around 1 mpg or less. if i were going to replace my tires i would at least go up one size. you 4 or 2wd? 18s or 20s?

This is a good question. I need to replace my stock 265/70/17 and want to go with an AT tire. I'm thinking about going up to a 285/70/17 like I had on my Xterra. I lost about 3L/100km though, and that was a bit much. So maybe I will stick with stock size on my ecoboost. Interested in what people's experience is with the same size or one size bigger.

Ditto on other comments, please provide (or update your profile/sig) on what you're driving, your general region and objectives...
Without a lift planned in combo w/ "oversize" tires, I opted to replace my own G-Y Wrangler SRA tires for Toyo Open Country AT2 tires at just total 600 miles. This, despite my previous preference for BFG All Terrain ko tires. In the end, I chose Toyo considering availability of LT-rated Load-C range vs essentially all avail sizes in that BFG being Load-E w/ heavier 10-ply weight and commensurate highway road harshness.
In the end, I'll say my choice works for me w/ smooth as that OEM G-Y P-rated tire yet (IMO) better all around 4-season and all-terrain function in LT275/65R18C (Toyo p/n 352500 in BSW or p/n 35510 in RWL). Scroll down and check out available sizes/specs here:/

I posted pics elsewhere here and can so do again if the OP has similar 275/65R18 and requests accordingly...

my truck came w/ Michelin AT 10ply tires 265/70/17 10 ply (E rated). i quickly switched up to 285/70/17 BFG KO 10ply (E rated) tires and noticed an improvement in the handling since it was a 3 ply sidewall. no real decrease in power, but was aware the bigger size & weight was there for a few days until i got used to them... i ran these tires for a year.
recently, i decided to go back to the stock tire size (265/70/17) in the same BFG KO tire, but this time in a 6ply (C rated) tire. what i noticed immediately is a much easier & pleasant steering action (these C-rated tires are also considerably lighter than the E-rated ones they replaced). lastly, the ride is vastly improved.
personally, i would not go back to a 33" or E rated tire since i never tow anything and my off-roading is trails and goof-ing off. i also would not go any larger than 32" tire (275/70/17). i feel steering action "drags" a bit when you run a 33" tire while performing parking maneuvers or other low speed on-pavement movements (but thats a pretty obvious deduction.....LOL)
